IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR IBUS CONTROLLERS/SUPERVISORS - ADVERSE WEATHER GUIDANCE

To report roads that have become impassable due to adverse weather conditions please note the following guidance:

Should a bus driver report that a road is not able to be traversed, then it is the responsibility of the Bus Operator's iBus controller/supervisor to collate such information for consideration of gritting or otherwise. 

BUS DRIVERS SHOULD NOT MAKE CODE BLUE/ RED CALLS TO NMCC FOR THE PURPOSES OF MAKING GRITTING REQUESTS.

All such requests must be sent to NMCC by iBus Controllers via email to: Surface54321@tfl.gov.uk

To report any diversions or curtailments to your service, please include these in your email to the above address. In exceptional circumstances, where you need to speak to a member of the team please contact our designated desk via 0344 251 0164 . 

Please do not call the usual NMCC diversions number to discuss any snow related action or requests as they will remain focused on other road closures and critical incidents.

Buses that become physically stuck at a location should call Code Red to notify NMCC. 

Please do not send gritting requests for multiple locations that you would like to be done but at the time of contact are having little to no impact to the bus service. This may impact a timely response to more urgent locations that have been notified to us.

It is the Bus Operator's responsibility to regularly check any notified problem and to advise NMCC when the problem has been resolved and/or their route have been able to return to normal LOR.

During severe weather it may be necessary for NMCC to restrict the use of the radio system to emergency radio calls only and to restrict incoming telephone calls to essential service control telephone calls only - a radio broadcast will be made to this effect when required.

Code Red emergency radio calls will continue to be handled by NMCC and any such restrictions will be lifted as soon as conditions allow.
