Information from National Highways

The A282 southbound (Dartford Queen Elizabeth 2 Bridge) is closed due to a car fire and oil/fuel spill.

Emergency services, including Fire and Rescue attended. 

A specialist engineer is en route to inspect the damage. The car is welded to the carriageway and the fire has caused significant damage.

Resurfacing and other repair work to a number of lanes on the bridge is anticipated. 

Southbound traffic is diverted via East bore (larger tunnel) at Dartford. 

Northbound traffic on the A282 has a height restriction of 15ft 9 inches.

Vehicles above this height are being queued. 

Delays of 90 minutes are reported above normal, with 7 miles of congestion on the M25 clockwise.

Delays of 35 minutes are reported on the M25 anti-clockwise, with almost 4 miles of slow moving traffic on the approach.
